Ever achieved something, reached a goal or level of success and then look around and realized afterwards that you don’t feel better for long? Not really anyway. That same small aching knot in your tummy is there before you go to bed.
And you think, “What’s wrong with me, I have so much to be thankful for, why can’t I just be ok with what I’ve got? Other people are worse off, have major hardships, and I can’t just be content?!”
I’ve been there, many of us have. In fact, almost every high powered client I’ve had has been there. But we rarely talk about it, because we’re embarrassed, or too flushed with heat and discomfort every time we really sit still with it.
So we shop, or drink, or binge on social media or work harder to distract ourselves. But in quiet moments, when we are alone, that ache is still there.
If this feels like you, let me be the first to say you aren’t crazy (well, maybe a little crazy, but I’ll get to that). And you probably aren’t spoiled or entitled or greedy either.
Your yearning for something more or different, that insatiable hunger for something you can’t quite put your finger on, is a calling. It means you have something in you, deep and special and powerful, that wants to be heard and liberated. It wants to step out of the tight place in your chest and light up a room.
Why you have a particular calling or what you should do about it is none of your business. Trying to figure out “why me” is exhausting.
But if you crave real peace, beginning to listen to what that beautiful, albeit nagging, calling has to say, will unleash a truth about you that will move mountains. It will unlock a power and a passion that will motivate, inspired and create magic for you, in ways bigger than we can yet imagine.
So, in a world that would like you to conform and perform, maybe it does take a little crazy to answer your call...well, crazy or just wanting to sleep well at night!
To tie a string around your calling and walk towards it every day is not for the faint of heart, but neither is living a long life you don't enjoy. If you wonder and ask questions and want to experience the full spectrum of beauty your life has to offer when you are your authentic self, that ache is a reminder there is more for you, and won't be satiated until you dare to listen in.
Do you dare?
